June brings the 1st day of summer on 6/20, but it is still a great month to keep gardening! MAY FRUITS & VEGETABLES LIST

  • Crowder Peas

  • Eggplant

  • Field Peas

  • Okra

  • Peanuts

  • Popcorn

  • Sweet Potatoes

May is here, and if you haven’t planted your garden or started your raised beds yet, May is still a great month to do that! It’s not too late to plant all of the fruits and vegetables that we listed for April: cantaloupe, honey dew melon, watermelon, bell peppers, corn, cucumbers, green beans, hot peppers, lima beans, squash, tomatoes, and zucchini. For May you can now plant crowder peas, eggplant, field peas, okra, peanuts, popcorn, and sweet potatoes. For all of these items, we recommend planting in Daddy Pete’s Perennial Pleaser, Daddy Pete’s Potting Mix, or Daddy Pete’s Raised Bed Mix. If you are amending your existing garden, you can mix in Daddy Pete’s Cow Manure, Daddy Pete’s Kickin’ Chickin, or Daddy Pete’s Mushroom Compost. If your existing garden needs extra drainage, you can amend it with Daddy Pete’s Planting Mix or Daddy Pete’s Lawn & Garden Soil. Both of these mixes have our Daddy Pete’s Composted Cow Manure; but they also include aged pine bark fines for drainage.

May is also a good month to plant all of your annuals and perennials. For planting your annuals, we recommend Daddy Pete’s Nursery Blend, Daddy Pete’s Perennial Pleaser, Daddy Pete’s Pete Lite Mix, Daddy Pete’s Potting Mix, or Daddy Pete’s Sea n’ Farm.  For planting your perennials, we recommend Daddy Pete’s Nursery Blend or Daddy Pete’s Perennial Pleaser.

Okra Planting Tip: If you soak your okra seeds in warm water the night before you plant them, more seeds tend to germinate.
